BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) -

Authorities say arrests have been made in connection to a December homicide case in Cullman County.

Fredrick William Galin, 71, was found dead on the kitchen floor in his home on St. Joseph Drive on Dec. 19, 2013. Authorities believe he was killed on Dec. 16.

Just over a month later, on Friday, Jan. 17, Cullman County Sheriff Mike Rainey announced that two people have been arrested in connection to the case.

John Edward Cole has been charged with the theft of Mr. Galin's vehicle, which was believed stolen on Dec. 16, the same day officials think Galin was killed. Robert Esby, Jr. is also is in jail on an unrelated third degree burglary charge, but the sheriff says he is also "linked" to the murder investigation.

Both men are expected to be formally charged with murder in the near future. They each have a $200,000 cash bond and are being held in the Cullman County Detention Center.

Cullman County's dive team searched the bottom of Lake George on Friday, looking for evidence that may be related to the investigation. The Sheriff's department also conducted additional interviews.

The sheriff's office released a sketch of a homicide suspect on Jan. 2. The sketch describes the suspect as a white male between 40 and 50, 6'1", with a big build and "possibly left handed with dirty hands."
