HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

Huntsville's mayor wants you to join him in living a healthier lifestyle.

Mayor Tommy Battle and other community leaders launched the 2014 Healthy Huntsville initiative on Friday.

Battle got the program underway at the Sandwich Farm. He was joined by Huntsville Superintendent Dr. Casey Wardynski, Huntsville Hospital representatives and people from the Madison County Health Department and Hudson Alpha.

The goal of this program is to reduce obesity by promoting healthy eating and active lifestyles.

Healthy Huntsville will offer free programs and events throughout the year. The initiative will include informational sessions, health screenings and healthy cooking demonstrations.

This is the third year for the initiative. For more information about joining, follow the link in the sidebar.
