Comments made on social media lead to school lockdown Thursday

Posted: Updated:
ELYSIAN FIELDS, TX (KLTV) - A Harrison County school district was put on lockdown Thursday after inappropriate comments were made on social media regarding the district.

According to a letter from Elysian Fields Independent School District Superintendent Maynard Chapman, school administration became aware that an individual made inappropriate comments regarding the district on Facebook. Although Champan said there was no direct threat made against any campus, the district chose to play it safe in light of recent events at schools across the nation.

Chapman said the district was proactive in keeping all school entrances locked and in practicing lockout and lockdown procedures with parents and staff.

Elysian Fields ISD is back to normal operating procedures Friday.

Elysian Fields is located in Harrison County just 17 miles southeast of Marshall.
