HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

Charges may soon be dropped against a former teacher's aide accused of sexually abusing a child.

A motion filed by the district attorney's office requests to drop charges against Michael Horton. Horton is charged with sodomy, accused of abusing a child younger than 13 in 2008. Horton worked as a teacher's aide at Providence School in Huntsville.

According to the document, prosecutors want to drop the case because the victim is no longer cooperating.

Horton was scheduled to go to trial Jan. 27.
