FLORENCE, AL (WAFF) -

Police made an arrest in connection with a gravesite theft at a Florence cemetery. Investigators said the incident happened at a gravesite in Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens on Florence Boulevard.

Police arrested Brandie Lynn Grimes-Emerson, 39, of Muscle Shoals, on Thursday after receiving tips from the community that linked her to the crime.

Police said Grimes-Emerson is accused of stealing property from the grave of Brandy Nicole Murphy. Investigators said Murphy was killed in 2006 and was a senior at the University of Alabama at the time of her death.

Police were able to recover some of the items stolen from the gravesite at Grimes-Emerson's home Thursday morning.

Authorities said the investigation is on-going and additional charges will likely be filed. Grimes-Emerson is being held in the Lauderdale County Detention Center.
