A man suspected of setting his girlfriend's house on fire early Thursday morning is facing attempted murder and arson charges.

The Houma Police Department said Douglas Ross, 46, was arrested on four counts of attempted first-degree murder and one count of aggravated arson.

Investigators said the fire started at a home on Morgan Street shortly before 3 a.m.

Officers reported arriving on the scene to find the house and shed engulfed in flames. They added the four people who were inside at the time of the fire all made it out safely.

Detectives said the investigation eventually pointed to Ross as a suspect and his home was searched for evidence.

Investigators didn't report what they found, but he was booked into the Terrebonne Parish Jail after being questioned about the fire. Bond has not been set.
