LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – A Louisville Metro Animal Services volunteer says she was dismissed after she posted videos of shelter dogs on her Facebook page.

Briana Holloway has been a volunteer for Metro Animal Services since May 2012 and she thought she was doing a good job. She wanted to help the dogs get adopted. She would post videos of them playing and getting exercise at the Manslick shelter.

"I love animals," said Holloway.

It's not hard to see why Holloway wanted to volunteer with Louisville Metro Animal Services.

"I just have a passion for dogs," said Holloway.

Two days a week at times for more than six hours, Holloway would interact with the shelter dogs and give them the extra attention they need.

"My goal is to try to save as many animals as possible to get as many pit bulls and pit mixes out of Metro Animal Services that's all that I want to do," said Holloway.

Holloway decided to start recording videos of the dogs and post them on her personal Facebook page.

"I'm just simply saying here's this really cute happy dog that deserves a home, come to Manslick and check him out," said Holloway.

Holloway felt especially attached to a pit bull mix named Big Red and when she found out Big Red was euthanized, she posted the words "RIP Big Red", along with the video she made.

"The reason why I get upset is because I felt like Big Red could have made a good pet for the right person," said Holloway.

Holloway said she didn't think she was breaking any rules. "I'm not casting Metro Animal Services in a negative light, I love Metro Animal Services," said Holloway.

On Tuesday Holloway got a call from a Metro Animal Services administrator telling her she was not allowed to take or post videos unless they were approved through management.

By phone, a spokesperson told WAVE 3 News Holloway violated volunteer policies and procedures. The spokesperson couldn't comment further because it was a personnel matter.

"I understand that you can't save every single one of them and I get that, but we still have to try and I don't feel like we're trying," said Holloway.

Holloway was told she is not allowed to volunteer for a month and then she can meet with administrators to talk about the future. She said she's not sure if she wants to come back, if asked.
