SCOTTSBORO, AL (WAFF) -

The mayor of Scottsboro is taking stock of his city in a public address.

Mayor Melton Potter will update the people of Scottsboro on the state of the city Wednesday morning.

He hopes to talk about the good things that have happened recently in the city, including extra parking and a new dock at the city park. He also hopes to talk about projects for the future, including downtown renewal as well as renovations to some aging facilities including Fire Station 3.

The mayor said one of the good items of news to pass on is that sales tax revenues have increased.

"We have to look out to the future. We do that through researching for grant money, looking for excess money in our sales tax, where we can set aside to do those projects," Melton said.

Mayor Potter said he is saving a few surprises for the address. It will be held at 7:30 a.m. at the operations center of the Water, Sewer and Gas Board in Scottsboro.
