LIMESTONE COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -

Limestone County is one step closer to a major overhaul at Clements High.

The county's board of education accepted a bid from a Cullman-based contractor. The bid came in at just over $5 million.

There was originally a $7 million bid that included a new performing arts building, but the board scrapped it and negotiated a new price. Board leaders said the old Clements gym can be used for that purpose.

Renovations will include a larger science lab, security improvements, and a more visible front office.
