LIMESTONE COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -

Limestone County Schools will be adding an extra hour to the end of classes for the next two weeks to help make up for time lost due to this week's freeze-related closures.

Superintendent Dr. Thomas Sisk said one hour will be added to the end of the class day starting Monday, Jan. 13 through Friday, Jan. 24. School will remain closed on Monday, Jan. 20, in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

Elementary schools will release at 3:55 p.m. and high schools at 4:10 p.m. during the extended period.

Lawrence County Schools announced similar plans this week, opting to add the extra hour across several days as opposed to holding a full school day on a weekend or at the end of the regular school year.
