LAUDERDALE COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -

West Lauderdale Water Authority has put residents under an advisory to conserve water.

Under the advisory, customers who have a water leak are asked to turn water off at the meter and stop running water to prevent freezing pipes.

Customers who need potable water can pick up bottled water at 3353 County Road 200 or the Waterloo Post Office Wednesday night from 7 to 9 p.m., and Thursday beginning at 8 a.m.

Central High School and Waterloo High School were closed Thursday due to the low water levels in the area. Thursday afternoon, the Lauderdale County Schools superintendent confirmed that the two high schools would remain closed Friday.

Another conserve water order was given Wednesday by the Littleville Water Department, which services the northern Colbert Heights community. This order was prompted by the failure of a water pump, and is in effect until further notice.
