Two people are dead after a crash Wednesday near Bath, S.C. in Aiken County.

Helen Reid of Evans died after she was ejected from a 2004 Jeep Cherokee driven by Austin Beard of North Augusta, Aiken County Coroner Tim Carlton said. Beard was driving fast down Dixie Clay Road when he lost control of the vehicle. It overturned and hit a tree.

Reid was not wearing a seatbelt and died at the scene from multiple body trauma, Carlton said.

Late Friday, Carlton confirmed a second passenger, Tyler Gardner, had been pronounced brain dead at 8:20 p.m. on Thursday.

Beard is still in critical condition at Georgia Regents Medical Center.

This is the first and second traffic fatality of 2014 in Aiken County.
