DECATUR, AL (WAFF) -

Firefighters responded to a Decatur house fire around 3:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Authorities said four people, including two elderly and two in their twenties, were inside the home on the 600 block of 7th Avenue at the time of the fire. All were transported to the hospital for minor cuts, scrapes and smoke inhalation.

Firefighters said one of the victims, an amputee, was lying in the middle of the street when they arrived.

According to firefighters, the fire started in a back room. They aren't sure what caused the fire yet, but one firefighter said he saw about three space heaters in the back room.

Firefighters had to call for help from another unit since the fire hydrant was frozen. The scene is all clear now.
