Woman arrested for cutting Athens man


A woman was arrested Saturday evening after an Athens man was found with cuts to his hand and stomach.

Athens Police Chief Floyd Johnson said offers received a call that a person had been cut in the 700 block of South Houston Street. When they arrived, they found the 30-year-old victim. He was transported to Athens Limestone Hospital by ambulance.  

An acquaintance of the victim, Melanie Marie Hardy, was charged with assault and transferred to the county jail.

Johnson said the investigation into the cause of the assault is continuing. At this time, police have not determined a motive for the cutting.
