HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

Severe cold weather prompted a delay in trash pick-up for the city of Huntsville.

City officials said the drop in temperatures caused equipment failures for the sanitation department, making crews unable to complete regular Monday routes.

Garbage pick-up will resume Wednesday.

Pick-up schedule:

  • Monday pick-up moves to Wednesday, Jan. 8
  • Tuesday pick-up moves to Thursday, Jan. 9
  • Wednesday pick-up moves to Friday, Jan. 10
  • Thursday pick-up moves to Saturday, Jan. 11

Temperatures are expected to be warmer on Wednesday but sanitation crews are asking residents to please make sure garbage lids aren't frozen shut.
