ATHENS, AL (WAFF) -

Cold weather delayed sewer work on Hobbs Street in Athens. The work was expected to start Monday but has been delayed until Wednesday and Thursday.

The sewer work will require Hobbs Street to be closed between Thomas and Beaty Streets. City officials urge residents to use Washington and Pryor Streets Wednesday and Thursday. Athens State University students are asked to use Pryor Street to get to campus.

Officials said one eastbound lane of Hobbs Street will remain closed for 30 days.
