SELMA, AL (WSFA) -

The Selma Police Department says three suspects, ages 15, 16, and 17 are now charged with robbery in the third degree following the weekend robbery and beating of a 10-year-old. An arrest warrant is planned for a fourth suspect, also a juvenile.

The incident happened in the 2600 block of Etheridge Avenue around 4 p.m. Saturday. The victim's parent called police to report that the boy was beaten and the Moped he was riding was stolen.

Investigators say the boy was beaten in the head and face before the suspects dragged him. The victim was able to escape with what investigators called "minor bruises".

The child's stolen Moped was found in an abandoned residence in the 2500 block of Eugene Avenue.

The charge against the teens is a Class C felony. They are being held at the Dallas County Juvenile Detention Center while awaiting a hearing.

No names or mugshots have been released due to the suspects' ages.
