An East Texas woman is behind bars Saturday night after officials say she stabbed her neighbor in the ear with a kitchen knife following an argument.

Tyler Police tell us that shortly after 6:30 Saturday evening, authorities were dispatched to the 7-hundred block of West Harmony street in Tyler in relation to a stabbing. Upon arrival officials found a victim who had been stabbed in the ear and the head, as well as the suspect.

The victim has been identified as Tommie Shackleford. She was transported to ETMC Tyler and was in stable condition, but we are being told that she was transported by helicopter to a Dallas area hospital for surgery.

The suspect has been identified as Vanessa Carr. She was taken into custody and is being booked into the Smith County Jail. She is being charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and tampering with evidence.

Smith County records show that Carr has had multiple previous arrests, including an aggravated assault with a deadly weapon charge in February of 2009.
