HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

With the threat of single digits in the Valley, emergency officials are urging you to be prepared.

Make sure you have plenty of food and other heat resources.

HEMSI's Chief Operating Officer Don Webster said that with single digit temperatures, it's best to stay in. But if you have to be outside, make sure you dress properly.

"Frost bite is a big issue when you get into these single digit temperatures," Webster said. "So people that are going to be out should have gloves on, good shoes and socks and stuff like that."

Webster also advised you to check on your neighbor and family members and take care of your pets.
