MARSHALL COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -

A routine traffic stop landed a juvenile in custody and left a state trooper seeking medical attention.

Law enforcement officials reported the young man was tough to get under control, listing incidents in Albertville and Scant City. The 16-year-old was finally brought under control after an incident at Marshall Medical Center.

It began during a traffic stop on Highway 75 north of Albertville on Jan. 1, when the trooper discovered the juvenile had drugs. Prosecutors said the juvenile fought with the officer, who had to use a Taser to stop the youth.

When the juvenile was taken to the hospital to be checked out, he fled, causing damage to a sliding door. He again fought with officers, but this time, the trooper was hit by the young man, causing a laceration to the face.

The youth now faces numerous charges and has been placed in juvenile custody.
