Members of Westview Baptist Church are mourning after one of their pastors died in a skiing accident.

Johnny Warren the Missions and Discipleship Pastor at Westview Baptist Church in Opp, Alabama died Wednesday after a skiing accident while on vacation in West Virginia.

Pastor Warren had gone on the trip with a group from Opp. Details surrounding the accident are limited at this time.

The Church had this to say about their beloved pastor:

Johnny devoted his life to his passion for making disciples of all nations.  He was on staff at Westview Baptist Church in Opp, AL as Pastor of Discipleship and Missions, however his call to see people come to know Christ was planted in his heart many years before.  Since seeing His need for a savior and to be forgiven of his sins at the age of 9, Johnny grew in his walk with the Lord and made it his life ambition to see others follow Christ as well with their whole hearts.  He spent two years serving in Southeast Asia, along with countless other trips around the world, proclaiming the good news of Jesus Christ.  His hope was in the Lord and today his faith has been made sight.  He encouraged so many in their walk with God and constantly pointed people to the joy of knowing Christ.  He preached his final sermon on Sunday, December 29th on Philippians 3:7-11. This was truly the testimony of his life, that Johnny considered all things loss compared to knowing Christ Jesus as Lord. We have hope that we will see Johnny again, because we know the truth of the Bible that says all who call upon the name of the Lord will be saved and that we will live forever with God in heaven. If he were here today, he would tell you that Christ is worthy of all praise, all glory and all honor because of the salvation given to us by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone.  His family is resting in the fact that God is Sovereign in all things, even when it doesn't make sense.  We can trust God always to be faithful to his children.

There is no word yet on the funeral arrangements for Pastor Warren but the family in asking that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Children's Hope (a ministry of First Baptist Church, Montgomery), International Mission Board and Westview Baptist Church Missions.
