FORT PAYNE, AL (WAFF) - A man is being held in the DeKalb County Jail after leading several agencies on a high-speed chase overnight.
DeKalb County Sheriff Jimmy Harris said he was glad to get John William Goodale, 39, of Henagar, off the road, but after Goodale was stopped, it became clear why he was running.
Goodale was charged with attempting to elude police, possession of a controlled substance, receiving stolen property, and non-payment of child support.
"You've got a person that knows you know he has this much meth, knows he has child support warrants, and he has stolen weapons in the vehicle," Harris said. "Long guns and pistols, so you know he's going to do what he has to do to get away. I'm just thankful we had enough folks there, and it wasn't just one deputy working this."
Goodale is being held on a $33,000 bond, but more charges are pending.
