Tide fans make plans for the Sugar Bowl

Lots of Alabama fans are New Orleans-bound, with the Crimson Tide taking on Oklahoma in the Sugar Bowl on Thursday, January 2.  If you haven't made plans to go to the game yet, it's not too late.  As of Tuesday morning, tickets are still available through the Sugar Bowl's Web site, and also on reseller web sites like Stub Hub.  Single tickets are available for about $175 to $240 through the Sugar Bowl, and resellers have tickets available at a range of prices.

With Alabama's relatively short proximity to New Orleans, some fans are planning to drive in the day of the game.  Ashley Clayton, travel coordinator for the UA Alumni Association, says fans should still arrive well before kickoff.  Clayton says the parking situation in New Orleans is much different than other locations where UA often plays.

"Those streets in the Quarter and around the Superdome are a lot smaller than, say, taking the interstate all the way in," Clayton said.

Clayton also says fans staying several days in New Orleans should try to take in some of the culture of the city.  The Sugar Bowl offers a free mobile app with information on parking, maps, fan events and more.  You can find more on the app here: http://www.allstatesugarbowl.org/site.php?pageID=19&newsID=690#.UsK_c7TOQ08

Kickoff is set for Thursday, January 2 at 7:30 p.m.
