HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

Bad news for the Holiday Inn might be good news for you if you are looking for a deal. A massive liquidation sale will take place before demolition of the downtown motel.

The building located next to the Von Braun Center closed Dec. 15. The City of Huntsville owns the property and wants to redevelop it.

Hundreds of HDTVs, end tables, chairs, armoires, laps, and even the beds are being sold off. The sale begins Thursday, Jan. 2 at 10 a.m. It will continue daily from 10 a.m.-7 p.m. and Sundays from noon to 5 p.m. for 30 days or until the items are sold out. The business contained 270 guestroom furnishings.

NCL Sales is managing the liquidation sale. Photos of many of the items can be viewed on their website.

The bidding process to replace the downtown Holiday Inn will begin this spring. Downtown Huntsville Inc. asked citizens to give input on what they would like to see done with the site.
