HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

A Huntsville police car was involved in a wreck with an 18-wheeler early Sunday morning.

The wreck happened around 6:30 a.m. on North Memorial Parkway near Bob Wade Lane. A utility pole was knocked out during the crash, heavily damaging the 18-wheeler. According to police, both drivers were taken to Huntsville Hospital, but there were no fatalities.

Police officers and crews from Huntsville Fire and Rescue and Huntsville Utilities responded to the scene. Police said fire and rescue dealt with the fuel that leaked from the 18-wheeler after impact.

A section of North Memorial Parkway was closed as crews worked the scene. Huntsville Police advised that all southbound lanes of Highway 231-431 at Bob Wade would be shut down until further notice, but at 4:37 p.m., they announced the southbound lanes were open again.
