SELMA, AL (WSFA) -

Selma police say they found the body of a missing man Thursday afternoon.

Arthur Lee McWilliams, 66, had been missing since Sunday. Selma police Lt. Curtis Muhannad says McWilliams' body was found at 12:45 p.m. in the 700 block of Johnson St. in Selma. He was found behind a residence in a wooded area that appears to be a dump site for residential garbage.

The scene is less than a mile from where McWilliams lived on Hickory Avenue.

Muhannad said one of McWilliams' relatives asked the owner of the residence on Johnson Street for permission to look on the property. That's when the body was found.

Muhannad said it's unclear how long McWilliams had been deceased, but it's possible McWilliams may not have been in the location he was found the entire time he was missing.

The case is currently a death investigation. McWilliams' body will be taken to Montgomery Friday for an autopsy.

McWilliams was reported missing Monday afternoon. He was last seen leaving his house on Sunday. Police said McWilliams was hearing impaired and had medical conditions that caused him to have chronic seizures.

Police said he was known to walk in the area of Old Montgomery Highway, Kingsbend Road, Highway 80 East and Cecil Jackson Bypass in Selma picking up aluminum cans.
