COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

Columbus State University students received their second "Cougar Alert" in less than a week after an armed robbery was reported at the university's Courtyard II student apartment complex.

The robbery reportedly happened shortly before midnight Monday at the apartments located on Gentian Boulevard. A gunshot was fired but no one was hit.

CSU police chief, Rus Drew, said the robbery began as a drug deal.  Officers who arrived on scene were flagged down by Xavier Hamilton who claimed he was robbed by a man and a woman, but investigators ended up charging him too.  He's charged with being a part of that marijuana exchange, violating the school's weapon policy and firing a shot near several innocent bystanders.

Police are still searching for Jabryson Monterio Burton, 21, of Rosemont Dr. in Columbus.  He is wanted for armed robbery and possession of firearm in commission of crime.  Burton was last seen driving a red Ford F-150 pickup truck.

Officers caught up with Kathrina Marie Campbell shortly after this incident and she was also taken into custody.  She is being charged with conspiracy to commit armed robbery. Drew said Campbell was present when the crime occurred, but the exact nature of her involvement is still under investigation.

No one involved in this incident is a Columbus State student. Chief Drew said the suspects were brought onto campus by residents of the Courtyard II complex.

If you have any information please call Columbus Police at 706-653-3400. This case is under investigation.

Just last week someone was shot and killed inside a parking garage near the school. That person was not a student at the school.

David: Showers and storms ongoing across the Valley

    Saturday, March 25 2017 5:50 PM EDT2017-03-25 21:50:37 GMT

Showers and storms will be ongoing across the Valley this evening. The most widespread rain will be over northeastern AL, but additional scattered storms will track into the Shoals from the west. That round of stormy weather will head east with time and should be out of the Valley after midnight. The threat for severe storms is low, but a few strong storms are possible.
