HONOLULU (RNN) - South Carolina never grabbed the lead in its game against Boise State, losing 80-54 in the semifinals of the Diamond Head Classic.

The Gamecocks (3-6) got within one point of the Broncos (10-2) in the first minute but gradually fell farther behind as the game progressed, in part due to their 18 turnovers. Boise State led 43-28 at the half and dominated by as many as 30 points in the second half.

South Carolina had hard luck shooting, making only 37 percent of its field goals, a quarter of its 3-pointers and 12 out of 18 free throws.

Brenton Williams led the Gamecocks with 14 points. Duane Notice was close behind with 13 points.

South Carolina will play for third place in the tournament when the Gamecocks take on Akron on Christmas.
