SPLOST funded purchase approved, public safety software

Posted: Updated:
WOODBINE, GA (WTOC) -

The Board of County Commissioners voted to allocate $753,556 of voter approved Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST VII) funds for the purchase of new software that will greatly facilitate enhanced communication and data sharing between local public safety agencies.

The software will upgrade and enhance Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD), law enforcement records management, corrections management, field based reporting and mobile tracking across multiple agencies.

Once the new system is up and running the Camden County Sheriff's Office, the Kingsland Police Department, the St. Marys Police Department and officers of the Court will use the same software interface and/or have a shared database.

The database will also be linked to the jail software and the 911 CAD software. Data will only be entered once instead of multiple times as is the current procedure. Instead of three separate systems the goal is to have an integrated system that is consistent across agencies.

The software vendor for the project is New World Systems of Troy, Michigan.
