Technical problems hit warning equipment as storms approach

Good Friday evening and TGIF!

With a threat of severe weather here in the Tennessee Valley overnight Saturday into Sunday, some residents are having to make do without weather sirens. Two outdoor severe sirens in Limestone County aren't working right now. WAFF 48's Sarah Navoy investigated to see what sort of a problem this really is, and how folks can work around it.

A Huntsville political pioneer has passed away. Jane Mabry, the first female to serve on Huntsville's City Council, has died at the age of 77. Mabry was first elected to the council in 1974 and even ran for mayor. Tonight, WAFF 48's Charles Molineaux will talk to one of her family members about her life and legacy.

And you might have noticed delivery drivers working overtime to make sure Christmas packages reach their destination in time for the big day. This is the busiest week of the year for those delivery companies like Fed Ex and UPS. Tonight, WAFF 48's Shumuriel Ratliff investigated the potential dangers that exist when thieves try to play "Grinch" and go "gift grabbing" when those items are left at your front door.

We hope you'll join us tonight at 10.
