DECATUR, AL (WAFF) -

Some Morgan County kids will have a sweet ride on Christmas morning.

Friday, parents picked up bikes donated to the Pedaling Christmas Cheer bicycle giveaway.

Decatur City Councilman Roger Anders started the event in 2011. Local businesses and churches help with donations. Anders said the giveaway has grown each year.

"This is just a way we can give back and hope 300 kids in Decatur, Morgan County will have a Christmas. You see parents come with tears in their eyes and said their kids wouldn't have Christmas without it. That's why we do it," Anders said.

In the first year of the campaign, roughly 100 bicycles were donated.
