NORTH ALABAMA (WAFF) -

A powerful storm system moved across north Alabama Saturday night into Sunday morning.

Strong wind gusts of 40-50 mph will be possible along the line with a few areas approaching severe criteria of 55-65mph. The tornado threat is extremely low but a brief spin up cannot be completely discounted. The storm threat will be out of our area by daybreak.

Power outages were reported after high winds and rain moved through Madison County. Huntsville Utility crews worked through the night to restore power to residents impacted by the outage.

We encourage you to monitor the weather throughout the evening and have a way to receive severe weather information should a watch or warning be issued. Make sure your NOAA Weather Alert radio is on. You can also get more information from our weather and news apps.
