1 killed after I-24 crash involving 3 vehicles

Posted: Updated:

The woman driving a car east on Interstate 24 that apparently stopped in a lane of traffic causing a three-car crash has died, according to authorities.

Metro police said Tresa Partee, 41, of Nashville, died Thursday from injuries sustained in the crash.

I-24 was shut down for several hours near Harding Place around 10 p.m. Wednesday when the crash happened.

Witnesses said they watched a 2013 Nissan Sentra, which Partee was driving, weave slightly before coming to a complete stop in the inside eastbound lane.

Police said a 2007 Nissan Maxima hit Partee's vehicle, and then a 1995 Nissan Maxima hit the 2007 Nissan.

Partee was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

The other drivers were taken to TriStar Southern Hills Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. They were later treated and released.

Investigators are not sure why Partee stopped her car but are looking into the possibility that she could have been suffering from a medical condition.

Officials said there are no signs of alcohol being involved at this time.
