STARKVILLE, MS (RNN) - Florida A&M came within two points of grabbing the lead in the first half but fell short as Mississippi State cruised to an easy 78-65 win at home on Tuesday.

The Bulldogs (7-2) led the entire game and dominated by as many as 26 points over the Rattlers (2-8). While the Bulldogs did a better job at landing field goals and free throws, the Rattlers made more of their 3-pointers, making eight of their 21 attempts, compared to Mississippi State's five out of 15.

Craig Sword led Mississippi State with 16 points while Andre Applewhite made 11 rebounds and three steals for the Bulldogs.

Mississippi State will host the Florida Gulf Coast Eagles on Thursday.
