HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

Authorities searched for a missing child after a fatal house fire in Huntsville Saturday morning.

Police identified the woman killed in the fire as 42-year-old Delicia Lattice Barrow. Officers were searching for eight-year-old Randle Barrow, who police said was autistic.

According to authorities, officers went to 4900 Alburta Road to check on the welfare of a child who had not been to school in two days. Police said they noticed smoke coming from the home, notified Huntsville Fire Department, and attempted to make entry.

Firefighters responded to the house and put the fire out. Police found Delicia Barrow inside the home. She was taken the hospital where she was later pronounced dead.

Police said they are treating the case as a death investigation and that an autopsy will be performed on Monday.

Police said Randle Barrow was not found inside the home and that they had not been able to locate him. Marshall County deputies reported that they found the boy's body in the Tennessee River early Sunday morning.
