HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

Huntsville City Schools is ready in case Boeing chooses to bring its 777X project - and thousands of potential jobs and families - to Huntsville.

Superintendent Dr. Casey Wardynski made the comments after touring the new Huntsville High School ninth grade academy that is set to open next fall. Wardynski said the district is always involved whenever the city is trying to lure a big business to the area and said Boeing has been impressed with the district's digital conversion learning programs.

Those programs focus on teaching students how to engage and use technology like many manufacturing companies do in the high-tech sector.

"When Boeing came here and they looked at [the digital conversion] that was kind of a show stopper. They looked at us and said what? You're doing what? That's way different then the other cities that are competing for these jobs. So, beyond getting our kids ready we're really setting our city apart to be ready to compete in these kind of high tech undertakings," said Wardynski.

The superintendent said all of Huntsville City Schools new building projects are prepared for add-ons and building extensions in case they do have a influx of families and students over a short time period.

Wardynski said the district is also looking at expanding to new projects out west if the building continues towards Limestone County. Some Limestone County property has been annexed into the city of Huntsville and would fall under Huntsville City Schools area.
