Two recent bank robberies -- one in DeRidder and one in Leesville -- may be connected.

Leesville Police said 26-year-old Michael Jones of DeRidder was arrested Wednesday in connection with a bank robbery that occurred Monday.

Authorities said Jones entered the City Savings Bank Leesville. He was wearing a tan jacket and a baseball cap, and he demanded money before fleeing on foot, according to investigators.

Police now believe that Jones is responsible for a second bank robbery that occurred previously in DeRidder.

Last week, a male suspect matching the description of the suspect in the Leesville robbery entered the First Federal Bank in DeRidder, demanded cash and also fled on foot.

The man originally charged in the DeRidder Bank Robbery has been released from jail, and the charges against him have been dropped.

Jones was charged with Armed Robbery and remains in the Leesville jail on a $200,000 bond.

His bond is set at $250,000 for the DeRidder bank robbery.

Jones was arrested without incident at his residence Wednesday.

The Leesville Police Department, the Vernon Parish Sheriff's Office, the FBI, the Louisiana State Police, the  DeRidder Police Department and Beauregard Parish Sheriff's Office assisted in this case, which remains under investigation.
