Decatur police arrest 12 in drug sweep

In all, 12 people were arrested on 22 felony charges and six misdemeanor charges. In all, 12 people were arrested on 22 felony charges and six misdemeanor charges.
DECATUR, AL (WAFF) -

Members of Decatur Police Department's Organized Crime, Anti-Crime and Canine units rounded up twelve people Tuesday. Each person had sold various types of drugs over the past few months during an undercover operation.

Gabrielle Byrd sold prescription narcotics on multiple occasions and when arrested at her home was found to be in possession of a quantity of marijuana.

Lamar Coffey sold marijuana on multiple occasions and was arrested at his home.

Courtney Cowley sold crack-cocaine and was arrested during a traffic stop on Eleventh Avenue Northwest. Cowley attempted to flee twice; once in his vehicle and then on foot. He was captured and resisted arrest at that point. Cowley faces charges of resisting arrest, attempting to flee, and driving while revoked in addition to drug charges.

Preston Elliott Jr. sold marijuana on multiple occasions and when arrested at his home was found to be in possession of a quantity of marijuana.

Roderick Goode had an outstanding warrant for possession of a controlled substance and was arrested on that warrant.

Cameron McGee sold methamphetamine during the undercover operation. Investigators learned he had been arrested on other charges and was in the Morgan County Jail, where the distribution warrant was served.

James Reeves also sold methamphetamine and was also in the Morgan County Jail. He was served a distribution warrant at the jail.

Javonne Sears sold marijuana on multiple occasions and when arrested at his apartment was found to be in possession of a quantity of marijuana.

Linton Spell sold pot during the operation and was arrested at a residence on the corner of Fourth Avenue and Fourth Street Southeast.

Denise Stripe sold various types of narcotics throughout the investigation, including cocaine, pot and Hydrocodone. She was arrested at her residence.

Justin Talavera sold pot on multiple occasions. He was located and arrested at his place of work.

Larry White sold pot on multiple occasions. After his arrest his home, representatives of Community Development inspected the home for code violations. The home was condemned at the conclusion of the inspection.

In all, 12 people were arrested on 22 felony charges and six misdemeanor charges. Some are out on bond or on probation after being convicted of other crimes. Investigators said they are working to have bonds revoked where applicable or have probation revocation warrants issued to keep them in jail.
