LEEDS, AL (WBRC) -

A Leeds auto dealer is offering a reward to recover the vehicles he says were stolen from his lot.

Les Schmitt is offering a $10,000 reward for information that leads to the thieves that allegedly stole four vehicles. He says at this point, he would like to see the culprits in jail.

He says he'll double the amount of the reward if he doesn't get any tips in 30 days.

"I've never been hit like that before," Schmitt said.

Schmitt says that at night, he puts a vehicle in front of his gates to block the entrances. But Wednesday evening, he says the car that should have blocked his east gate wasn't in place. He believes the thieves were watcdhing and seized the opportunity.

Birmingham Police found one of the vehicles, a 2004 Mustang Mach 1, Thursday afternoon after it was involved in a hit and run. The thieves had already put a Florida tag on it before getting away.

Schmitt says in all, he has lost $35,000. He says that in addition to the Mach 1, a white 2000 Mustang GT convertible, a black 2005 Mustang GT and a 2006 silver/gray Dodge Magnum were stolen. Leeds Police say they're investigating the case but don't have any solid leads yet. Please call them at 205-699-2581 if you have any information.
