For the remainder of the day today temperatures should hold as is, or fall slowly into the overnight hours. As the moisture increases later tonight and into the morning hours, the chances for freezing rain will increase. The ground is still very warm due to the last few days, but the overpasses and bridges will be the first to freeze, causing driving conditions to worsen as the temps fall below freezing tonight, especially along I-30. As the night progresses, the chances for freezing rain to stick to bridges and overpasses, north of I-20, will increase. Ice will also begin to stick to trees and power lines which could cause some power outages if the ice becomes too heavy. Good news for the southernmost portions of East Texas, or Deep East Texas, the precipitation there should remain all liquid tonight.

Friday will be cloudy with high temperatures north of I-20 maybe making it to freezing or slightly above. Freezing rain is likely to be the main wintry threat beginning overnight tonight and continuing through the afternoon. Some areas may see as much as 1/4" of freezing rain on Bridges, Overpasses and even more is possible on trees and power lines. Make sure you have your battery powered devices, CHARGED, in case we lose power during this wintry event. The best chance to see the slick roads and the freezing rain will be north of interstate 20. Highs on Friday will top out, on average, in the middle 30s.
