MARSHALL COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -

Search efforts for a missing Marshall County boater will be stepped up this weekend with the arrival of cadaver dogs.

57-year-old Jackie Neil Rowell has not been seen since Nov. 15. Managers at a marina where he keeps his boat called authorities ten days later when he could not be reached by phone. The search began at that time.

Rowell's boat was located near the lock and dam and returned to a local marina for processing. Sheriff's officials said the boat throttle was engaged in the forward position and the fuel tank was empty.

They believe Rowell fell out of the boat at night, as the navigation lights were in the ‘on' position.

After searching the top of the water, and two flights by helicopter, Rowell has yet to be found. The decision has been made to bring in cadaver dogs in the hopes that they will be able to help locate Rowell, but authorities said there are special challenges.

"We don't know exactly where he may have fell out of the boat. It's a big area and we're constantly having to expand the search out," said Lieutenant Heath Thomas.

Lt. Thomas said they plan to begin the search sometime on Saturday.
