LAUDERDALE COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -

A Shoals woman was sentenced Wednesday after pleading guilty to theft and fraud charges.

Shirley Weeks pleaded guilty in October to theft of property and fraudulent use of a credit card. Weeks stole more than $30,000 from the Cloverdale Volunteer Fire Department.

The judge gave Weeks a suspended sentence of 46 months, with credit given for time served.

Weeks will also have to pay restitution to the Cloverdale VFD in the amount of $39,000.

    A ground search ensued that lasted about four hours and covered approximately six miles, ending a few hundred yards east of Hays Mill Road where the suspects were caught in a hunting stand/shoot house.
