MEMPHIS, TN -

(WMC-TV) - Imagine the number of people it would take to fill 10 FedExForum arenas. That is how many people the Mid-South Food Bank provides emergency food and assistance to each year. Out of the estimated 186,500 people who receive assistance, 31 percent of them are kids under 18 years old.

That is why the generous Mid-South stepped up with donations to the annual Action News 5 Food Drive Wednesday.

From sunrise to sunset you gave, and our team across eight locations had fun at the same time – all to stock the shelves of the Mid-South Food Bank.

Little angels, Sister Myotis, Memphis Grizzlies player Mike Miller, among hundreds of other Mid-Southerns stopped by to donate.

Unilever in Covington donated $20,000.

The Action News 5 Food Drive collected 41,625 pounds of food and $69,183.50, which equals 240,850 meals.
