Ensworth coaches win appeal, allowed to coach in title game

Posted: Updated:
NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

The head coach of a Nashville high school will get to be on the sidelines for his team's state championship game after all.

Ensworth coach Ricky Bowers and his assistant, Paul Wade, won their appeal with the Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association on Monday.

Bowers and Paul were originally suspended due to an altercation and ejection that came at the end of Ensworth's semifinal game last month against Brentwood Academy.

The TSSAA said the game's official had misapplied the rule, because the game had already been declared over when he issued the ejections.

Ensworth faces Memphis University School on Thursday for the Division II Class AA title at the BlueCross Bowl in Cookeville.
