BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) -

A mother, her daughter and stepdaughter were killed in a wreck on a Pickens County road Saturday afternoon.

According to an Alabama State Troopers report, a 2012 Ford Explorer wrecked at about 4:30 p.m. Saturday on Bostic Road near Gordo. Troopers say 32-year-old Melina Pruitt, along with a 12-year-old girl and a 7-year-old girl, were thrown from the vehicle and died in the crash.

Melina Pruitt's husband, Anthony Pruitt, said his wife, her daughter Cailey, his daughter Railyn and a niece were going to a movie theater on Saturday afternoon when his wife's SUV veered off the road and wrecked into a tree about a mile from their home. He was at home watching the Iron Bowl at the time of the crash.

"I just see 'em and I keep waiting any minute, they're gonna walk back in that door. And it's just not gonna happen," Pruitt said.

The Pruitts' 9-year-old niece is the only survivor of the crash. She is in critical condition in the ICU at Children's of Alabama Hospital in Birmingham. Anthony Pruitt says she has a broken arm and leg. According to state troopers, she was the only person in the SUV wearing a seat belt.

A fund has been set up to help pay for the niece's medical bills as well as the three funerals. Donations can be made to the First National Bank and West Alabama Bank for the Pruitt family.

A funeral for the mom and two girls will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Skelton Funeral Home in Reform.
