Snow expected across TN Valley overnight - WAFF-TV: News, Weather and Sports for Huntsville, AL

Snow expected across TN Valley overnight

HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

Light snow mixed with some rain will track from the southwest to the northeast overnight tonight.  All snow should end by 3am.

Areas over northwest Alabama will likely remain dry overnight.  It will be windy all night with a north wind at 10-20mph.  The strong wind will help dry some of the area roads before temperatures fall below freezing.

There could be a few areas, mainly bridges and overpasses, that have patches of ice in the morning.  Tune in to WAFF 48 News Today beginning at 4:30am for the latest information on road conditions in the morning.

Ground temperatures remain too warm to support any significant accumulation unless there is a heavy burst of snow.  We are expecting little to no accumulation at this time.  The most likely areas to see any accumulation at all are over DeKalb and Jackson Counties.

Temperatures will drop into the 20s overnight and we will stay in the 30s all day on Wednesday with wind gusts 25-30mph.

Stay with the WAFF 48 Storm Team on-air, online at WAFF.com and on our mobile weather app for updates on our first taste of winter weather of the season.
