ALBERTVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

The Marshall County Commission has voted to move its probate office in Albertville from the courthouse to Crossroads Mall.

The commission has seen a traffic increase over the years, and when court is being held, there are too many people on the first floor. The commission will be making it easier for residents by moving the office to the Crossroads Mall, where they got a sweetheart of a deal.

On Monday morning, the Marshall County Commission accepted a five-year contract and free rent to move their probate judge's satellite office to Crossroads Mall.

Probate Judge Tim Mitchell said no car tags are issued during December, so that's when they hope to begin the process of moving the computers and other equipment for the transition.

Mitchell said that during that time, there are some services that the office provides that residents will have to make a trip to the county seat to get accomplished. Mitchell said these services include drivers, business, hunting and fishing licenses, as well as transferring tags; residents will have to go to Guntersville during December.

Mitchell anticipates the move will be completed and the new office opened on Jan. 2.
