HOMEWOOD, AL (WBRC) -

Homewood city leaders and residents are concerned that motorists are misusing a street close to the middle school.

Mecca Avenue is almost exclusively a one-way street but is often used by drivers as a cut through from Valley Avenue to Oxmoor Road. FOX6 News is told that some drivers disregard the one-way signs.

Homewood city leaders met Monday to find a solution. One idea is to shut off the street but that could take up to two years. Leaders want to implement a plan immediately.
