Crews battle house fire in South Huntsville

HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

Saturday, Huntsville firefighters battled a house fire in South Huntsville .

Crews were called to a house on the 8100 block of Whitesburg Drive, just north of Lily Flagg Road, around 4:30 p.m. Firefighters said that upon arrival, smoke and flames were visible.

The fire took about 20 minutes to put out, but damages were confined to the attic space. Firefighters were able to save the rest of the house after they ventilated the smoke from the inside.

Officials said that no one was inside the home during the fire, but that someone does live there. Whitesburg was closed from Dell to Lily Flagg as Huntsville Police worked to control traffic. 

No injuries were reported.
