2 displaced in Decatur apartment fire

DECATUR, AL (WAFF) -

An apartment fire in Decatur has left two people without a home Friday morning.

The fire started in a duplex in the 500 block of Finley Drive. Firefighters found flames and heavy smoke coming from one unit when they arrived around 11 p.m. Thursday.

A couple escaped from the flames through a window.

Investigators said one of the units has moderate fire damage.

As for the other unit, firefighters said they had to clear out some smoke but otherwise it's okay. Firefighters said it looks like this started in the kitchen.
